Profile

Jennifer is a Cambridge based painter who works with a variety of materials. She explores through traditional painting, drawing and printmaking techniques but also experiments with mixed media and installation, works out of the frame when developing ideas.

In the early part of her life she lived in Epping Forest. This must have infused in her the love of ancient woodland and the mysteries of nature, its energies and connections. Later on, an inspiring study of science led to an enduring series of creative work about the natural worlds that we can see and learn about through the use of instruments - the ‘Hidden Worlds’ series. Thoughts about ‘hidden’ and ‘connectivity’ inspired the work selected for the 2021 exhibition entitled ‘global connections’ at CRASSH, University of Cambridge.

This strand of interest continues, but alongside it Jennifer paints people and is currently making a series of full length portraits of diverse people who have affected her with their presence, they are painted standing strong in their own spaces.

Portraits were made about swimming with Elise at Eltham pool. It was a poignant experience for her as this area was where Stephen Lawrence came from and she gives remembrance to him when driving along the Well Hall road to go swimming with Elise from Plumstead. These paintings were shown in a group exhibition ‘Blackness’ for Black History month 2022 at Artspace.
