Feminist Artist Activist.
My work is rooted in the intersection of art and social change. I specialise in multimedia, process-driven, and performative art, utilising found materials, stitch, textiles, and rubbish. I work collaboratively with groups and individuals to bring events, actions, and their creative projects to life. My individual work centres around finding a voice for my own life experiences.
At the core of my practice is the belief that art is essential for our well-being and the health of our planet. Through my art, I follow threads, uncover routes and connections, and untangle the complexities of our world.
I am a founding member of The Freudian Slips, a Cambridge women's performance group established in 1994. Our performances explore women's issues, often starting with archetypal fairy tales, weaving in our own writing, experiences, humour, and creativity.
For over a decade, I have been involved in Strawberry Fair, a one-day arts and music event in Cambridge. As coordinator of the arts area for five years, I tripled its size and diversified the range of artists and genres. Our mission is to empower artists to showcase their work and engage with the wider community. At the fair, I have collaborated with Helen Judge on projects like the Society of Xtras, Not a Cardi, The Interknit, and with Jane Hellings and Helen Judge on Artist Tent City and Mrs Fubbs Parlour.
For many years I worked with young people at risk, devising projects and events with them using art and creativity as a medium for self-discovery and expression. My work embodies the belief that art is a vital force for connection, healing, and transformation. Through my art, I aim to inspire others to see the world differently and recognize the power of creativity in fostering change.
