Ceramic Artist.
Meet Betka, a ceramic artist from Poland whose journey with clay spans decades.
Betka graduated from Art College in Warsaw with a degree in graphic design. She worked afterwards in advertising. Tumultuous times and the redesign of geopolitics in the early 90’s fascinated her, and this led to her obtaining a Masters degree in sociology and social politics from University of Warsaw.
Over the following decades, she lived in several countries on two continents, and in 2015 she relocated to Cambridge where she has her studio at Unit13. Betka’s deep passion for art led her to rediscover her love for clay. She is a self-taught ceramist who is fascinated about the long and unpredictable process of transforming a lump of dirt into art.
Betka’s early career focused on making functional pieces like bowls and plates, but since moving to Cambridge she has switched her focus to sculptures. Her ceramics are more than just objects; they are explorations in the organic forms, colours, and textures found all around us. Betka especially draws inspiration from many walks in nature and her beloved seaside. With every piece, Betka’s goal is simple: to bring joy into your space, to spark curiosity, and to celebrate the beauty of the everyday.
Betka has exhibited in Zurich, London, Cambridge and Bristol, and her ceramic objects are in private collections in USA, Switzerland, Poland, Australia and Hong Kong.
